Special CCHA Pacific-Western Member Opportunity!
Nominate a colleague to receive the 2006 Nadine Hata Distinguished Regional Educator Award
Possible Nomination Criteria**:
• Teaching excellence in the humanities or social sciences
• Excellence in college leadership (through teaching, mentorship, and/or through an administrative position)
• Ongoing, innovative curriculum development
• Sharing of ideas and teaching techniques with colleagues through on-campus presentations, conference presentations, and/or publications
• Commitment to community service (on campus and in the geographical and/or social communities of the Pacific-Western Region)
• Sustained membership and activity in professional organizations such as CCHA
It’s simple to nominate a colleague for this award! Just write a one-page description of ways that your colleague has excelled in two or more of the nomination criteria and in other ways that you find inspiring. Then add the names and contact numbers of three other supporters. Send your nomination by email attachment to Leslie Back, CCHA Pacific-Western Division Secretary, at lback@elcamino.edu by the deadline of October 17, 2006 (no extensions will be permitted). The Nadine Hata Award Committee, a group of faculty from throughout the Pacific-Western Division, will choose this year’s recipient.
Don’t miss the opportunity to honor your colleague with this prestigious award!
** The nomination criteria reflect the legacy of Nadine Hata, who led a distinguished, 30-year career as a Professor of History at El Camino College. Professor Hata was also an active CCHA member and community member. As of 2006, the Pacific-Western Division’s Distinguished Regional Educator award will be called the Nadine Hata Humanities Educator Award, in honor of Professor Hata’s many contributions to humanities education and scholarship. At the award presentation in November, more words will be shared by Don Hata, CSU Dominguez Hills Emeritus Professor of History, and Maria Brown, Pacific-Western Division President.
